Welcome back after the two weeks. We have lots to do this term so please make sure you are at school as much as possible! You don't want to miss out on all the fun.
We have our Ancient Greek day on Thursday 21st April - so don't forget to come dressed as an Ancient Greek for the day.
See the newsletter for more information.
We had a great day on Thursday. There was lots to listen to and also some fun activities to take part in. We even heard about Theseus and the Minotaur which a few of us acted out. We learnt a lot about Ancient Greece and look forward to finding out more this term.
Welcome back after the half term holidays. This term we are looking at our local area and amongst other things we are finding out how to use and make maps. There will be plenty of exciting things to look at in science too as we investigate plants and how they grow.
On Tuesday 1st March we have an author coming in to spend some time with Y2. Keep a look out on our page for more information!
On Friday 11th March in 2Y3 we have a visitor from Tescos to share some different foods with us and help us to understand where our food comes from.
PE is still on a Monday and a Tuesday, so keep your PE kit in school - it is an easy way to earn a house point every time you have it.
Author visit to Year 2
On Tuesday 1st March we met Emma Barnes. She has written many children's books and came to our school to talk to us about it. She started the day with an assembly to all Y2 and then each class worked with her in the day to decide on their own story and what it would be about. During the day we also got the chance to buy a book and she signed it for us.
Tesco Farm to Fork visit
On Friday 11th March we had a visitor from Tesco Seacroft, Leeds. Catherine showed us lots of different fruits and vegetables and brought along some cheese for us to taste. We also got to stroke a mackerel - although some of us weren't impressed at all! At the end of her visit we got a little bag with our worksheets, some colouring sheets, fruit and a hot cross bun to take home.
On Friday 1st April children in 2Y3 were presented with their 100% attendance certificates for the five weeks from 22nd February to 23rd March 2016. Most of the class were able to get a certificate and were really happy! One person was picked out of the hat to get a little chocolate egg - congratulations Abigail!
In each class within the school there was also one person with the most improved attendance in that term. Our winner for most improved attendance was Lucas. well done. He got another certificate and a little chocolate egg too.
We had a fantastic time at the Castle Museum York on 25th November. First we visited the Victorian street where we got shown around by a Victorian gentleman. We also met a Chemist and asked him lots of questions and then visited different shops. In the afternoon we had fun looking at what life was like in a castle. we tried on lots of different headgear plus handled artifacts with special gloves on and we even got to smell what life was like in the castle! Yuk!
Animal roadshow September 2015
We were very lucky to get a visit from James and his animals. Miss Morgan managed to take a few pictures of some of the ones we saw. They were great and we did lots of fantastic artwork and wrote some super fact files about some of the ones we had met.
Weather forecasts in 2Y3
This term we have been learning about the weather and also about the different countries that make up the United Kingdom. We have enjoyed watching the BBC weather forecasts and seeing what is due to happen on our days off school, plus having a go at being a weather forecaster ourselves!
