Welcome back after such a lovely summer holiday. I hope you have all had a fantastic summer and are ready for a busy year ahead.
This half term we have some really exciting activities ahead of us! Year 5 is going to be a really interesting place to be over the next 7 weeks.
Our topic this half term is going to be World War 2. I have to say I am very excited to be teaching this subject as we have lots of fun experiences ahead of us. Including our school trip to Eden Camp (dates to follow).
We will be looking at life in Britain in the 1940’s, creating our own air raid shelters, becoming evacuees. We will also be finding out about how life in Europe was changed dramatically focusing on Anne Frank and her diary.
With that in mind if you are able to save any shoe boxes or any other resources which would help us recreate our own air raid shelter, could you please bring them into school for us to use.
Our P.E days will be on a Monday and a Wednesday. A reminder that all children need to have P.E kit to participate in P.E for health and safety reasons. We would also advise children with earrings to either remove them during P.E lessons or covered with a plaster.
Our P.E kit policy is for children to wear a white top and black shorts for indoors and as the weather is still ok we will also be going outside for PE which means you will also need a pair of trainers and jogging bottoms to ensure the children stay warm.
Our homework chart is available to download for you to see a hard copy at home. Homework will be sent back out on a Friday and due in from Wednesday to Thursday.
