For our final topic we will be learning all about life in India. We will therefore be finding out about such things as where India is, what the flag looks like, the clothes that are worn, food that is eaten, what the houses are like, famous buildings such as the Taj Mahal etc.
Our topic will finish with a very exciting whole school 'carnival day'. Lots of fun activities have been planned for this day, which include our class making a special 'float' to represent India as well as performing a special 'Bhangra' style dance. We will also have the chance to sample foods from other countries, as we visit different classes and discover which country they have been learning about.
Literacy, Reading and Writing
The children will be progressing with their reading and writing skills in their Read, Write Inc groups and taking the next steps and challenges to take their learning further.
We shall be taking the next steps in our learning in all areas of number, shape and measures. This will include such concepts as finding 1 more/less (1-20), exploring 3D shapes further, expanding our adding and subtracting skills and doubling/halving.
The children have really been enjoying P.E and this will continue to take place on a Thursday afternoon with our coach, Mr Nurse. Please make sure that your child has their kit in school on this day so that they can take part (T-shirt and tracksuit bottoms or shorts - any colour).
Although it seems that summer is finally here, please can you continue to send a coat for your child – we do not make the children wear them when it is hot but the weather can quickly change. If you have not already, please can you send a plastic water bottle in to school for your child. Your child will also need some high protection sun cream with their name on, which we will help them to apply when it is very sunny.
Thank you, Miss Hobson
