A massive welcome back to school after your summer break. I hope that you all had a lovely holiday.
My name is Miss Hickling, and I am your child’s new teacher.
I am sure that we will get to know each other over the year. I am always available at the end of the school day if you have any questions or concerns.
1R2 have settled in really well this week. We have been looking at the book “We’re going on a Bear Hunt” Here are some pictures of what we did in class.
What are we learning about this half term?
This half term our whole school topic will be Richmond Hill Carnival island. The topic will look at the local area. We will be comparing Richmond Hill to lots of other places and creating art work around this. At the end of the topic, the whole school will have a carnival on the field. We will be creating musical instruments, head dresses and a large carnival float for the day.
In literacy we are continuing to focus on spelling punctuation and grammar, trying to extend sentences and develop vocabulary. You can support your child at home with this by providing them with an interesting picture and asking them to write about it.
In maths there will be a large focus on number and making sure the children have a concrete understanding of basic number facts before moving up into Year 2.
Thank you to all parents for your continued support this year. If you have any questions about your child's transition to Year 2 then please let me know.
Our Reading books are changed every TUESDAY AND THURSDAY. Please remember to bring your child's book bag to school. Particularly on these days.
PE is on a Thursday , Well Done to those children that are bringing their PE Kit!
Year 1 P.E
This half term the year 1 children will have their PE on a Wednesday.
