Summer 2 Newsletter

This Term

Welcome back everyone! I hope you had an amazing holiday and are now all relaxed and ready to learn because we have lots of exciting things planned for this half term.

Our curriculum topic this half term is ‘World Kitchens’ and Year 4 will be focusing on North America. We will be concentrating on geography and focusing on lakes and mountains in North America. In Science, our topic is ‘Digestion’ and will be looking at how our digestive system works, we will also be looking closely at our teeth and thinking about how we can look after them. DT is going to be very exciting as we are going to be thinking of packaging of chocolate to support with Literacy focus of persuasive writing.

This week, you will receive your new homework grid that is linked to this half term’s topic. I will also be setting a Reading Eggs homework and a Mathletics homework each week to consolidate what we have learnt. If you have forgotten your log in to these websites, please ask me for them.

This term we are also going to be rewarding children who are reading lots at home as this is so important to help with reading development in school. Children can record their reading every time they read in their reading diaries. This can be a few pages, a chapter, a whole book as well as books on Reading Eggs. If children 50 times this term they can win a small prize. If they read 100 times they can win a non-school uniform at the end of term which will be sent as an invite on the last day. So grab those books and start reading!

If you have any concerns or queries then please feel free to come and see me after school.

Miss George
